Jennifer D Schurman
Founder/Executive Director
Jennifer was born in Roswell, NM graduating from Robert H Goddard high school in 1991. She attended Adams State College (now Adams State University) in Alamosa, Co where she was a student athlete playing collegiate volleyball, intramural basketball and softball. She graduated in 1995 with a BS in Business Administration and a minor in Accounting. She attended the New Mexico State Police Academy graduating in December 2000 from the 64th New Mexico State Police Recruit School and assigned to the Chaves, Eddy and Lea County stationed in Roswell, NM . On October 19th, 2001 she was injured in a helicopter accident, killing two fellow State Police officers with 10 months into their career with the department. Having bought her first home in May of 2001, being on duty injury with a reduction of 33% income made a financial hardship and stressful. With the pressure of needing to get a full paycheck, she returned to work sooner than she should have knowing that she could possibly re-injure/rebreak the partially healing right collar bone as well as the dealings and treatment of PTSD and depression of the loss of two co-workers and friends that were from Roswell as well. In 2007, it was determined that she was unable to continue her career as a New Mexico State Police Officer leaving after 7 years with the department. Through her injury and what other officers have endured while being injured, she decided to start Always In Blue, Inc. to assist those injured so that the only thing the officer needs to worry about is getting healthy and recovering to return to work.
